Overview:

It is a foot deformity, where swollen bony bump develops on the outside of edge of your foot. This bump is formed on the joint at the base of your big toe. In some cases, skin over the bunion might become red and sore.

Symptoms:

  • Bump on the outside of the base of your big toe
  • Swelling and redness around big toe joint

When to see a doctor?

If you notice that you have an odd bony bump on your toe or discomfort, you must visit your doctor. Your doctor can tell diagnose bunion just by looking at your foot. He /she may suggest an Xray to check the seriousness of the problem.
