Tendons are the strong fibrous tissues that acts as attachment between muscles and bones. They help in locomotion by transferring force applied by muscles to bones and thus causing movements across the joints. Strong tendons can carry weight up to 5times of bodyweight.
Tendon transfer and grafts: chronic or old tendon injuries are also treatable. The disability resulting from old or neglected tendon injuries can have serious impact on activities of daily living and if left unattended for long can have serious implications on other joints and whole locomotor functioning including knees, hips, pelvis and spine. Tendon transfers are viable options and are customized as per patients and condition. For more information ask your foot and ankle surgeon. To book appointment click here.
